The Sussex Beacon
We are a charity providing support and care for people facing the challenges of living with HIV. We are base din Brighton and work for people from all over Sussex. Our inpatient unit is the only one of its kind in the South of England. We also provide day time and evening services.
We opened our doors as a hospice in 1992, when the AIDS epidemic was at its height. The way that we work is very different now, as advances in treatment mean that people living with HIV live as long as the rest of the population. There are a significant minority of them, however, who have problems related to physical health issues, mental ill health and/or social isolation. These are our service users.
Why do you support the Living Wage?
We believe that your staff, who provide our essential services, are entitled to receive a salary that reflects the amount that is needed to live a full life.
