The success of the Brighton & Hove Living Wage campaign was one of the reasons behind the choice of Outstanding Brightonian at this year’s 2016 Brighton & Hove Business Awards (BAHBAs). Run by Brighton Chamber, this local campaign has signed up 297 employers since it started in 2012. Brighton Chamber is headed up by its director Sarah Springford who has been in post since 2008. During this time, Sarah and her team have created a Chamber worthy of the city. It has grown in size with 600 member businesses (including charities and social enterprises), it has delivered the Ride the Wave business support events for Brighton Council for the last four years. And a new project Recruit Abililty helps disabled people get real jobs.

“It is such an honour and an accolade to have received this award from the BAHBAs judges. And brilliant that the living wage and Brighton Chamber have been recognised in this way by the business community”
